Founders
Ann G. Waiters, Ed.D. was
the first female and
first African-American Superintendent of Schools in the William
Penn School District. She has developed charter schools
in PA, NY, TX & AZ, and is founder and CEO of Maritime
Academy Charter High School in Philadelphia. She is
a former Board Chair of FranklinTowne Charter School, and
founding principal of Philadelphia’s Bodine High School for
International Affairs. She has been a teacher, instructional
specialist, principal, and regional superintendent
in the Philadelphia School District.
Dr. Alexander D. Schuh, Ph.D. is the founder and Director of FRONTIER 21 Education
Solutions in Bala Cynwyd, PA, a charter school technical assistance provider
and education research organization. Dr. Schuh holds a Ph.D. in Educational
Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania,
where he studied policy research and evaluation, collaborative learning, and
use of computer media for learning. Dr. Schuh has helped to design
and establish more than 30 charter schools across the
country.
