Q:    Why Charter Schools?
A:    A charter school offers a choice in public education.  It is free of the many restrictions that shape traditional public schools, and therefore is able to pursue innovative teaching methods that will improve student learning. There are no entrance requirements, other than that the student qualify for the grade for which they apply. 

Q:    What is Innovations Charter School?
A:    The Innovations Charter School will be an autonomous, community-supported, co-educational, college preparatory middle and high school serving grades 7 through 12 in Philadelphia, PA in Southeast Pennsylvania. Our school will focus on preparing students for the adult world through serving the needs of the greater community and developing both business and technology skills through hands on learning. The school will be safe, nurturing, small, diverse and inclusive, and will challenge all of our students to achieve to high academic standards.  

Q:    Who Can Attend?
A:    Charter schools are open to all students from any school district regardless of current attendance at public or private school.

Q:    How Much Does It Cost?
A:    Innovations Charter School is tuition-free.  As a public school, Innovations CS will provide a free education for its students.

Q:    How Are Charter Schools Paid For?
A:    Charter schools are funded by the state's per pupil allotment, as well as private donations and grants.

Q:    When Do You Expect To Open?
A:    Our charter school proposal has been submitted to the William Penn School District.  With approval expected in March 2010, we plan to open our school in Philadelphia, PA in September 2010.

Q:    How Many Students Will Be Enrolled?
A:    Eventually the school will enroll approximately 700 students in 7th through 12th grades.  If there are more applications than spaces available, then students will be chosen by lottery.

Q:    If I Am Interested In Enrolling My Child in Your School, What Should I Do Next?
A:    Simply fill out a "Letter of Intent" and just send it when it is complete.  You will be kept informed of the progress of our school and we will provide you with on-going information regarding meetings and events.
